The battle for first place in the Berry Division looks like it will be determined by head-to-head competition.

Sure enough, Longmeadow took the first step in that direction after it defeated Westfield, 4-1.  It was a decisive win for the Lancers against their biggest rival.

After falling behind 1-0 on a goal by Ryan Moorhouse, the Lancers proceeded to rip off four unanswered goals. Rob Giampetro and Joe Santanielllo struck for first period goals to give Longmeadow the lead for good, 2-1.

Jack Barron added one goal and two assists.

Westfield, meanwhile, continued its ambitious independent schedule with a 5-2 loss to Central Mass. power Algonquin, while Longmeadow played to a 2-2 tie with Lincoln Sudbury.

Barron and Mason Baron Pinkowski scored for the Lancers against Lincoln Sudbury.

Meanwhile, #3 Amherst/Pelham remains perfect on the season at 9-0-0.
