A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. * For the third consecutive year, Longmeadow and Westfield will meet for the Western Massachusetts Division 3 title. No. 1 Longmeadow beat No. 4 East Longmeadow, 6-1 and No. 3 Westfield edged No 2 Minnechaug, 5-4 in double overtime Thursday in  emotional action. Liam Byrne led Longmeadow with two goals. Jack Barron, Robert Joyall and Patrick Philbon also scored. Max Loyuk made 27 saves.

Scotty Bussell beat Corb Marini late during the second overtime to lift three-time reigning champion Westfield. Matt Barnes and Spencer Cloutier also had single goals for the Bombers. Steve Mushenko scored twice for the Falcons.
