FIRST ROUND

No. 9 Spaulding 4, No. 8 Rutland 2

Spaulding (6-12-2) rode a 28-save performance by Grant Otis and a goal and two assists from Cam Goslyn to the win. They advance to face top seed and defending State Champ Essex Tuesday (8:15 PM). Ryan Melen scored both goals for the Raiders, who capped a 6-13-2 campaign. Augie Louras had 14 saves.

Division Two

FIRST ROUND

No. 6 Burr & Burton 5, No. 11 Burlington 3

Burr & Burton opened a 4-1 lead, withstood a Burlington push, and sealed the win with Joey McCoy’s second goal, an empty-netter. Jacob Mulac (assist) potted a pair of power play goals for the Bulldogs (11-10), who square off with the Colchester/Northfield winner in the quarterfinals (TBD). Curtis Plante scored twice for the Seahorses, who finished 6-12-2. Elliot Maher also scored and Brad Labombard had 21 saves.
