In 1972, two lifetime high school hockey fans started a weekly broadcast of Greater Boston high school games on WBOS-FM (92.9). The duo - Lance LoFaro and Darby Yaeger - called the nightly broadcasts "Hockey Night in Boston". As of late, HNIBnews - over 40 years running - has kept the scholastic hockey world on its feet with its widely-read website HNIBnews.com. In addition to HNIBnews, Hockey Night in Boston runs MassHSHockey.com, and also hosts summer tournaments showcasing the talents of scholastic hockey.

No D1 team can feel any safety as the Vermont State Tournament begins.  The margin between the top five teams has been thin all season.

Rice Memorial finished the regular season with just one loss to South Burlington and one tie with Essex.  They enter the playoffs with the #1 seed and will face Rutland March 2nd.

The #2 Essex Hornets will host Spaulding on March 2nd.  They have not lost a game since New Year’s Eve, but a recent tie with South Burlington shows how tight the Division playdowns could be.

The final post-season for retiring coach Toby Ducolon will begin March 1st as #3 BFA-St Albans takes on Champlain Valley Union.  They have a strong record, but have not beaten Rice or Essex this year.

South Burlington and Colchester have been just outside the top three and very even in the rankings for weeks.  Any remaining questions will be answered on 2 March when the two teams meet in the first round.
