It was a big jump for Lyndon Institute this week. Make that huge. The Vikings moved up from the No. 5 spot to the top spot in Vermont Division 2. We know it’s a big investment in a team that two weeks ago wasn’t in the Top Five.
But Lyndon has more than earned it. You could start with a huge, 7-6 win over previously unbeaten Harwood, our No. 2. Sam Gonyaw had the game-winner in the third period in that Instant Classic. Lyndon has now won six in a row, three of those of the shutout variety.
Harwood no doubt deserves the No. 2 slot. But it still has yet to beat a Top 5 team outside of Milton.
Speaking of Milton, the team sat idle this past week and stays at No 3. No. 4 Brattleboro also stayed put from its spot in last week’s poll. The team had uncharacteristic loss, 6-1, to Burr & Burton but had a pretty solid response – 1-0 over Woodstock.
Woodstock goes from the top spot to the last spot after its 1-0 loss to Brattleboro. It is 1-1-1 in its last three games.
