There were plenty of reasons to shake things up in Green Mountain State Division 2 hockey as we move toward the end of the regular season.
No. 1 Milton takes our top spot after a successful week, which included and a tie with Lyndon Institute (2-2). They also beat Woodstock a week earlier on Feb. 15, and we needed to decide between Woodstock and Milton for the top spot.
That’s because No. 2 Woodstock knocked off previous division leader Harwood, 4-2. Woodstock also beat Northfield, 7-1, its eighth victory in the last nine games.
No. 3 Hartford remains in place after beating U-32, 4-0.
No. 4 Lyndon Institute tied Milton, 2-2, but lost to Burr & Burton Academy, 3-1. We’re keeping LI in the top five because that loss was its first since Jan. 29.
No. 5 Harwood sees a big drop from the top. Two losses in a row – 4-2 to Woodstock and 4-3 to St. Johnsbury – didn’t provide many selling points otherwise.
