No. 1 Essex is also off to winning ways but has had a light schedule to begin. It beat Rutland to open the season.

No. 2 Rice has started red-hot – with four wins in its first five games.

No. 3 BFA St. Albans maintained its No. 3 spot. Its opening night win came against Rice Memorial.

No. 4 Spaulding looks good with a couple of wins right off the bat – over Stowe and Middlebury.

No. 5 Champlain Valley Union closes out the first Vermont D1 rankings of the season with wins against Colchester and South Burlington and losses to Stowe and Rice.
