No. 1 Essex capped a strong week with Saturday’s 3-0 shutout of Rice, following up a 7-1 midweek smack down of Rutland. The Hornets meet South Burlington Wednesday prior to being challenged by Middlebury Saturday.

No. 2 BFA/St. Albans registered a solid 3-0 shutout of Middlebury Friday, extending its winning streak to six games. The Bobwhites take on Stowe (Wednesday) and Spaulding (Saturday) this week.

No. 3 Middlebury stays put for now although the Tigers have hit a tenuous patch during which they have dropped 3-of-5. Saturday’s trip to Essex will be a challenge.

This is a minor distinction, but No. 4 Rice bumps up a notch based on its competitive loss to Essex. Games at Spaulding and against Rutland are on this week’s docket.

No. 5 Stowe drops back after its 7-3 loss to South Burlington. Trips to BFA and D2 stalwart Colchester flesh out this week.
