No. 1 Essex continued to roll and holds the top spot. The team blanked South Burlington, 5-0, and doubled up Rutland, 4-2. That’s two months of unbeaten hockey now for Essex, which didn’t lose in January and started off February with that Rutland win.

There’s an obvious flip-flop this week after No. 2 BFA/St Albans came up with a clutch 3-1 win over No. 3 Rice. That made it four in a row for the Bobwhites, who then finished off the week with a 3-1 win over Champlain Valley Union on Saturday.

BFA/St. Albans and Rice now have identical 10-3-0 records. Rice finished off its week with a win, as well – 4-1 over Stowe.

No. 4 Middlebury Union is now winners of five of its last six. The team beat Rutland, 4-1, and Spaulding, 2-0, in its last two, knocking Spaulding out of the Top Five this week.

No. 5 Stowe gets back in. It beat Spaulding, 3-2, this past week. It also fell to Rice, 4-1, but still maintains a winning record as we surge down the stretch.
