Vermont D2 Playdown Quarterfinals: Three of Top Four Seeds Advance

QUARTERFINALS

No. 5 Lyndon 3, No. 4 Mount Mansfield 0

The Vikings (12-8-1) shut down Mount Mansfield behind Sawyer Goodwin’s 31 saves to advance to the semifinals against defending champion Woodstock. It’s a rematch of the 2018 title game. Martin Rudolf netted the GWG in the second period. Steven Ferraro and Patrick Gaudreau also scored. Joe Mascolino had 22 saves for Mount Mansfield, which finished 12-8-1.

No. 3 Colchester 4, No. 6 Burr and Burton 2

Andy Rosato had the third-period game-winner to carry Colchester (16-4-1) into the semifinals against Missisquoi.  Chase Carey, Robby Rassal and Jacob Corman also scored for the Lakers and Sam Fath stopped 21 shots. Jakub Murlac and Jonny Miceli connected for Burr and Burton while Ethan Simonds had 26 saves. The Bulldogs wound up 11-11-0.

In other games:

No. 1 Woodstock (14-2-3) advanced with a 2-1 win against No. 9 Milton (8-11-1) and No. 2 Missiquoi (16-3-1) turned back No. 7 Brattleboro (7-9-6), 4-1.

No. 5 Lyndon (12-8-1) at No. 1 Woodstock (14-2-3), 7 pm

No. 3 Colchester (16-4-1) at No. 2 Missisquoi (16-3-1), 7 pm
