Vermont D1 Top 5: Middlebury Climbs To #3

Vermont Division 1 Top 5

2BFA/St. Alban's2611

Snow robbed us of last week’s marquee opening month battle between No. 1 Essex and No. 2 BFA/St. Albans. Minus that match both teams have been dark since Jan 5. The Wasps take on Rutland Jan. 16 and the Bobwhites face off with Middlebury on Jan. 19

No. 3 Middlebury climbed two spots thanks to solid wins against Rutland, 7-1, and South Burlington, 4-2.

No. 4 Stowe skated to a wild tie with Rice on Saturday and is unbeaten (5-0-2) since a season-opening loss to Essex.

In addition to the tie against Stowe, No. 5 Rice dropped a 2-1 decision to Champlain Valley Union. Nevertheless, under the direction of a new staff, the Raiders are off to their best start in a number of seasons. Next up is Essex on Jan. 19.
