A straightforward week yields no changes in the HNIB Vermont D1 Top 5. Perhaps there is a shift next Saturday when No. 1 BFA/St. Albans plays host to No. 2 Essex. The Bobwhites won the first meeting, 3-2.
The Bobwhites continued to cruise this past week, knocking off Rice, 4-1, and Stowe, 3-1. They have a full week to prepare for Essex,
Meanwhile, Essex handled Champlain Valley Union in its lone game on Wednesday, 7-0. Prior to BFA/St. Albans, the Hornets take on U-32 on Thursday.
No. 3 Spaulding defeated Rutland then completed a season sweep of crosstown rival U-32 with a 7-1 victory on Saturday. The Crimson Tide takes on Stowe Wednesday in it only game this week.
It was a busy week for No. 4 Stowe, which toppled Rutland and Middlebury and showed well in that loss to BFA. A Wednesday visit to Spaulding and a Saturday home date with South Burlington are on this week’s docket.
No. 5 Burr & Burton also knocked off Rutland in its only game of the week. The Bulldogs are off until Saturday’s home date against CVU.
