RI Championship Series preview: LaSalle-Hendricken (D1) and Coventry-Barrington (D2)

The Division 1 and Division 2 championship series in the Ocean State are set.

Tonight kicks off the two showdowns with Coventry and Barrington meeting in Game 1 of the Division 2 championship best-of-three series at Meehan Auditorium.

LaSalle and Bishop Hendricken meet up in the opener of their Division 1 best-of-three following that game at 8 p.m. at Meehan.

Game 2 will be the Saturday night back at Meehan with a 5:30 start for Division 2 and 7:30 in the Division 1 nightcap.

Coventry and Barrington split the season series, with Barrington grabbing the opener, 5-3. Coventry answered with a 6-5 win in the second game.

Hendricken, meanwhile, will be trying to figure out a way to beat LaSalle, something only one team has done in the league this year — Mount St. Charles, and that was in December.

LaSalle beat Hendricken in each of their three meetings: 2-0, 2-1 and 6-1. LaSalle hasn’t lost in the playoffs, outscoring foes, 26-8. Hendricken has done the same, sweeping their two playoff series and outscoring teams, 25-10.
