No. 1 LaSalle Academy is once again on top of the Ocean State. The Rams opened the season with three wins in as many games with convincing wins over Catholic Memorial of Massachusetts, Moses Brown and Prout/Scituate.

No. 2 Smithfield impressed in its first league game, handling Mount Saint Charles, 4-1.

No. 3 Cumberland, undefeated in Division 2 alongside Lincoln and South Kingstown in the early going, keeps impressing season to season. It beat Portsmouth, 5-2, and PCD, 3-2, to open the season.

We’re not ready to completely abandon No. 4 Bishop Hendricken and No. 5 Mount St. Charles after a slow start. Obviously plenty of season left for these regulars to make up ground playing with their new coaches.

No. 6 Barrington opened things the right way with a Division 1 league win over Burrillville. It also beat a Massachusetts team, Coyle & Cassidy, 6-1, and fell to Bedford, NH, 6-0.

It’s been a nice little start for No. 7 Lincoln, which sits at the top of Division 2 heading into this week. The team has won four in a row to open the year – Cranston West, East Greenwich, RMR and North Kingstown.

No. 8 South Kingstown is also off to a great start with three wins in a row: over Ponaganset, Coventry and Portsmouth.

No. 9 Cranston West and No. 10 RMR each opened up with two wins apiece and also each lost to Division 2 Lincoln.
