Rhode Island HS Highlights: MSC Continues Strong Play; Cumberland Survives

Division 1

Smithfield 6, Moses Brown/East Providence/Tolman 1

Ben Thibeault had a pair of goals, and Ryan Pompaselli contributed a goal and two helpers. Smithfield held a 4-0 lead after two periods and made it 6-0 in the third. Cam Bernard had the only goal for MB/EP/Tolman. Chris Disano, Dylan Falls and Jack Morel also scored for Smithfield.

Mount St. Charles 7, Hamden (CT) 1

The Mounties beat their Nutmeg State opponents thanks to Trey Bourque’s hat trick. John Belisle added four assists. Cee-Jay Laquerre (two), Matt Mahoney and Micaiah Bascombe added goals.

La Salle Academy 4, Bishop Hendricken 1

Will Healey opened up the scoring in the game for Hendricken. But the state’s No. 1 had four unanswered goals, and LaSalle goalie Joseph Iannuccilli blanked the Hawks from there. Kevin Kanaczet, Brayden Edwards and Jack Devine (two) had the goals for LaSalle.

Barrington 5, Prout/Scituate 2

Barrington broke a 2-2 tie and added two more goals for the win. Brenen Gazeryan got that eventual game-winner at 8:37 of the third. Jacob Andreozzi had two of his three goals in that final period. Evan Pendergast and Jared Irons scored for Prout/Scituate.

Mount St. Charles 4, Moses Brown/East Providence/Tolman 1

John Belisle scored twice, and Everett Misto and Chris Baxter added the others for the Mounties. Tyler Rose had the lone goal for Moses Brown.

Division 2

Cumberland 2, Coventry 1

Brandon Ciampenelli had 58 saves for Coventry, but Cumberland snuck two past him in the win. Jeff Robbins and Aidan Clarey had the goals.

Toll Gate  6, Ponaganset 3

Nathan McCamish had a hat trick, and Max Savaria (two) and Sean Mullaney had the other goals.

Division 3

Johnston/North Providence/Tiverton 6, Narragansett/Chariho 4

The game saw four lead changes, with the winners scoring four times to closed things out. Ryan DiLorenzo had a hat trick for Johnston/NP/T, and Christian Campbell added two goals. Caleb Foreman added the other goal for the winners. Charlie Ruth scored twice in the opening period for a two-goal lead for Narragansett/Chariho, and Jason Desrosiers and Chase Riley had the other goals.
