New Jersey HS Hockey: Previews Of Notre Dame, Robbinsville, Lawrence of CVC


Home Rink: Loucks Ice Center

Experience at forward will be the key for the Irish. Those veterans will lead what should be a potent offensive attack.

Included in that group up front are seniors Ryan Nemec, Nate Goldberg, Josh Neville and Jack Govan, and junior Carson Skove.

Senior Sam Kraus anchors the defense for coach Mike McVey. A new defenseman is senior Hayden Watson.

Home Rink: Mercer Park

Dan Bergan, who started the Ravens program in 2006 and coached it through 2016, returns behind the bench. He feels he has some good depth, and a high skill level at forward.

Up front, senior Jack Pallitto (40 pts) and junior Mitch Ducalo (43 pts) will be asked to drive the offense. Senior Nick Lawrence, juniors Bobby Grimes, Ty Thomas and Ted Wittenboom, and sophomore Charlie Palitto all return as well. Freshman John Sferra hopes for a key role.

Senior Jeremy Van Duren and juniors Shane Martin and Ryan Guttormsen bring their experience back on the blue line. Three freshmen – Jaidan Gingras, Ray Corneau and Joey Boccanfuso – will battle for minutes.

In goal, senior Mike Zuppa returns  as a varsity netminder.


Home Rink: Mercer County Skating Center

A talented sophomore and junior class will be the driving force for the Cardinals, who are looking to qualify for the post-season.

Two of those sophomores – Jack Yamniuck and Jason Keller –¬† will be offensive catalysts for coach Andrew Dudich.

On the blue line, junior Will Kocsis is back. As many as four freshmen, including Nate Kocheran, will form the nucleus of the defensive group. Senior Dan Cobb is a veteran between the pipes.

Gary Demopoulos has been covering prep school hockey for the HNIB News for over 30 years, and has been the editor of the HNIB News since 2005. A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. Gary also helps organize and oversee HNIB's many summer tournaments and festivals for scholastic players.
