Talk about about a no-brainer — No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas (2-0-0) starts where it closed last season after routing Winnacunnet and Timberlane by a combined 21-1 margin.

No. 2 Oyster River (3-0-0) is rolling, having knocked off defending State Champion Dover, Winnacunnet and Portsmouth/Newmarket. Senior Andy Carlson scored all five goals against P/N.

No. 3 Somersworth/Coe-Brown (2-0-0) toppled Kingswood, 6-2, Jake Pelletier scored twice and Rylye Coe stopped 15 shots in a 6-3 decision of Goffstown.

No. 4 Alvirne/Milford (0-0-0) is itching to get its season started on Jan. 5 at Goffstown.

No. 5 Portsmouth/Newmarket (2-1-0) surprised Merrimack and stunned Dover before that loss to Oyster River.

No. 6 Dover (2-2-0), with losses to OR and PN, 4-1 and 3-2 respectively, gets another crack at OR on Jan. 5.

No. 7 Goffstown (0-1-0) returns to action on Wednesday against Alvirne/Milford.

No. 8 Merrimack (0-1-0) heads to St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday.
