The New Hampshire Division 2 tournament got undeway Wednesday with a preliminary game in each of the four regions.

REGION ONE

Merrimack 8, Alvirne/Milford 0

The Tomahawks (7-4-0) erupted for five first-period goals and were never threatened as they advanced to the quarterfinals. Evan Roy notched a hat trick, Eliot Medlock had two goals and two assists, Dylan Sadowski scored twice and Brayden Guagliumi added a goal. Alvirne/Milford finished 1-5-0.

REGION TWO

Winnacunnet 3, Spaulding 1

Hunter Camire’s goal stood deep into the third period before the Warriors (6-7-0) broke through, scoring the game-winner with 2:27 to play then adding an ENG to move to the quarterfinals. Spaulding finished 0-11-0.

REGION THREE

Somersworth/Coe-Brown 6, Kingswood 3

Five-point nights by Aaron Bono (hat trick, 2 assists) and Jake Pelletier (goal, 4 assists) powered the Bearcats (8-4-1) into the quarterfinals. Jonny Pelletier (assist) and Wes Jones also scored and Rylye Cole had 15 saves. Nick Potenza, Cam Kean and Cam DeVito connected for the Knights and Oleg Sheahan piled up 35 saves. Kingswood finished 0-8-2.

REGION FOUR

Goffstown 5, Portsmouth/Newmarket 3

The Grizzlies (6-7-0) came from behind to bounce the upset-minded ClipperMules and earn a quarterfinal berth. Jake Klardie scored the game-winner. Luke Ouellette scored twice, Grady Chretien contributed a goal and two assists and Jack Wilkinson also found the mark. Chretien’s career totals now stand at 105-44-149 in 80 games, including three straight seasons of 25 goals or more. Matt Slover, Alex Dyer and Mike Durkin each scored a goal for Portsmouth/Newmarket, which finished 3-8-0.

REGION TWO

No. 2 Winnacunnet (6-7-0) vs. No. 1 Dover (11-1-0), 2:30 pm

No. 2 Somersworth/Coe-Brown (8-4-1) vs. No.1 St. Thomas Aquinas (9-3-0), 5:45 pm

REGION FOUR

No. 2 Goffstown (6-7-0) vs. No. 1 Oyster River (10-2-0), 4 pm
