New Hampshire Division 3 Boys HS Tournament: HBD Edges Sanborn/Epping, 3-1; JSH, Belmont/Gilford Also Move On

REGION TWO

Hollis-Brookline/Derryfield 3, Sanborn/Epping 1

The Warriors (2-1-1) have barely had a season but extended it at least one more game as Cole Giersch scored the game-winner midway through the second period. They face off against Pembroke/Campbell in Saturday’s quarterfinals. Sanborn/Epping’s Aidan Jenkins and HBD’s Sal Vella matched goals in the first period. Quinn Silvio added an empty-netter. Josh Stevens was stellar in defeat with 36 saves for Sanborn/Epping, which finished 2-6-1.

REGION THREE

John Stark/Hopkinton 6, Monument/Fall Mountain 3

Senior Cooper Rivers erupted for four goals as the General Hawks (2-4-0) generated their highest goal output since a wild season-opening 7-6 win against MFM. Bobby Arnold and Tyler Scordo added a goal each. Justin Joslyn scored twice for MFM. The General Hawks take on Lebanon/Stevens/Mount Royal in the quarterfinals. They did not meet in the regular season. MFM finishes at 2-7-0.

REGION FOUR

Belmont/Gilford 4, Laconia/Winnisquam/Inter-Lakes 3

Owen Guerin scored twice as the Bulldogs (7-7-1) bested the Lakers for the fourth time this season. Geena Cookingham and Brady Logan added a goal apiece. Next up is a quarterfinal date with Kennett, which swept the two-game season series by a combined 9-1 tally. Laconia/Winnisquam/Inter-Lakes concluded a 3-7-0 campaign.

REGION TWO

No. 2 Hollis-Brookline/Derryfield (2-1-1) vs. No.1 Pembroke/Campbell (5-2-0), 9:15 pm

REGION THREE

No. 2 John Stark/Hopkinton (2-4-0) vs. No. 1 Lebanon/Stevens/Mount Royal (8-3-1), 4 pm

REGION FOUR

No. 2 Belmont/Gilford (7-7-1) vs. No. 1 Kennett (7-2-1), 4 pm
