New Hampshire Division 3 Poll
No. 1 John Stark/Hopkinton delivered an immediate statement by doubling up defending State Champion and pre-season No. 1 Souhegan in its season opener, 6-3. JSH then stepped up a division to knock off Portsmouth/Newmarket, 3-1, and should be able to to build some serious momentum when league play resumes next Saturday.
No. 2 Belmont/Gilford (2-0-0) is off to an explosive start, having outscored Laconia-Winnisquam and Conval by an aggregate 16-2 count. A key early test against Berlin-Gorham looms on Jan. 7.
Mike Lane said No. 3 Kennett (1-0-1) would have to adopt a defensive stance this season and the Eagles have done exactly that, yielding two goals in two outings. Their next stiff test in Jan. 17 against Belmont-Gilford.
Following an opening tie against Kennett, No. 4 Berlin/Gorham (1-0-1) dismantled Manchester West. The first full week of league play presents big tests against Belmont/Gilford (Jan. 7) and Souhegan (Jan. 10).
No. 5 Souhegan (1-1-0), the pre-season No. 1, rebounded from its opening loss to JSH with a double-digit walloping of No. 6 Kearsage (1-1-0).
