Interval Training

No one ever dominated a game by being in shape, but people have lost games because they were out of shape. What’s the best way to get into shape? Interval training. Interval training is alternating periods of intense work with periods of rest. On the bike, we will do what’s called 10/20s. Ten seconds of a hard sprint followed by twenty seconds of rest for eight repetitions. We’ll work up to 20/10s. Twenty seconds of a hard sprint followed by ten seconds of rest for eight repetitions. Do these three times a week, and you’ll be skating circles around your opponents in the third period when they are all tired.
