Mike Boyle’s Exercise of the Week: Dumbbell Row

Mike Boyle’s Strength & Conditioning Exercise of the Week:

Dumbbell Row

Upper body strength and size are important for hockey. It will help you shoot harder, and it will serve as a protective layer when you get hit. The Dumbbell (DB) Row increases your upper body strength and size. To perform the DB Row, widen your feet as if you’re going to ride a big horse. Bend your knees and place your hand on top of a bench. Keep your back flat! Pull the dumbbell to your ribs and slowly return to the starting position. This is an advanced exercise, so perform it under the supervision of a coach or personal trainer.
