Mike Boyle’s Exercise of the Week: Bench Press

Mike Boyle’s Strength & Conditioning Exercise of the Week:

Bench Press

Everyone loves to bench press. Here are some technique tips that will help you bench more weight! First, dig your heels into the ground. Push them through the floor when you press up. The bar will feel surprisingly lighter. Second, keep your wrists neutral, as if you’re punching someone. Not cocked back like you’re scratching someone. This will allow you to utilize the next tip to its full potential. Third, actively try to break the bar in half. This will turn on your lats (big muscles behind your shoulders). The bar will feel lighter. Happy benching!
