MIAA Girls Tournament Recap: Bishop Fenwick Advances In Double OT; Boston Latin Blanks Waltham

DIVISION 1

* #9 Boston Latin opened up the Division 1 tournament with a 3-0 win over #24 Waltham. Ava Romano had two goals and Emma Tobin one for the Wolfpack, who will meet the winner of tonight’s Braintree-Barnstable matchup.

DIVISION 2

Bishop Fenwick

* Gabby Davern‘s overtime goal propelled Bishop Fenwick to a 3-2 win over #20 Cohasset/Hanover, the program’s first post-season victory. Lexi McNeil and Jill Matucci also had goals for the Crusaders, who will take on #4 Norwell in a first round matchup.

Lexie Turner
Matignon

* #9 Matignon whitewashed Central Catholic, 7-0, powered by four goals and an assist from Lexie Turner. Brynn MacPherson added a goal and three assists for the Warriors and Alaina Aiello scored twice. Dana Smullen had 10 saves.

* #19 Natick upended #14 Stoneham, 3-1, behind two goals from Molly Burnes and one from Claire Maxwell.

Lauren Fitzpatrick had two goals to lead #12 Canton to a 3-1 win over Natick. The Bulldogs now meet Wellesley in a first round matchup, a rematch of last year’s Division 2 state title game.
