MIAA Girls Tournament Highlights: Andover, Longmeadow, Notre Dame Are Winners

Division 1

* #4 Andover broke open a close game with three third goals to pull away for a 5-2 win over #5 Franklin and a berth in the semifinals Monday night against the winner of Saturday’s Austin Prep-Braintree battle. Freshman Lauren Adams led the way for the Golden Warriors, scoring her team’s first three goals. Laura Olson had a goal, and Emma Gilmartin clinched it with an empty-net goal. Cassie Ronan scored both goals for the Panthers, who finished 17-3-2.

* In a battle of Central/West rivals, Longmeadow got the best of Shrewsbury, taking a 3-2 win and earning the first semifinal berth in team history. Senior Brigitte Goeler-Slough notched a pair of goals for the Lancers, while Ashley Barron had one. Lauren Moran and Dolly Herlihy scored for Shrewsbury. Next up for Longmeadow is a date Monday with Methuen/Tewksbury.

 

Division 2

* Notre Dame of Hingham got goals from four different players in a 4-0 shutout win over Falmouth. Alexa Graziano scored the only goal the Cougars would need early in the second period. Caitlin Delano, Kelsey Stewart and Ava Bevilacqua each had a goal as well. Notre Dame will face the winner of Saturday’s Westwood/Algonquin-Hudson matchup in a semifinal on Tuesday at Warrior Arena
