MIAA Girls Division 2 First Round: Top-Seed Walpole Survives In OT; T-Hawks Advance

* Top-seeded Walpole got all it could handle from #16 Winchester in a first round matchup Sunday. The Rebels needed an overtime goal by Madison Ryan to take a 2-1 win and move on to a quarterfinal game against the winner of Monday’s Pembroke-Matignon battle. Olivia Brooks also had a goals. Issy Brissette scored the lone goal for the Sachems, who finish up at 9-7-7 overall.

* #11 Algonquin-Hudson eliminated #6 Bishop Stang, taking a 5-1 victory. Heather Hodgkins scored two goals to lead the T-Hawks attack, while Kerryn O’Connell, Amy MacGlashing and Ava Domolky each registered a goal and assist. Bishop Stang ended up 13-6-2. Algonquin-Hudson will now face #3 Westwood in the quarterfinals.
