The top seeds all held serve in Wednesday’s night five games and all advanced to the quarterfinal round. In all, seven of the eight seeds are still alive.

– #4 St Mary’s moved on with a 6-2 conquest of CCL rival Bishop Fenwick. Powering the attack for the Spartans were Maggie Pierce (hat trick), Julia Lambert (two goals) and Gabbie Oakes. St. Mary’s gets #5 Acton-Boxboro in a quarterfinal Saturday.

– That’s because Acton-Boxboro rallied to oust fellow MVC/Dual County League Large member Billerica/Chelmsford. Down 1-0 late, the Colonials tied the game on Natalie Hodgson‘s nifty backhander, and then won it in overtime on a blast from defenseman Allie Corrieri. Billerica/Chelmsford had taken the lead on a goal by Molly Sances.

– #2 seed Arlington got all it could handle with Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading, coming from behind for a 2-1 win. Junior Maddie Krepelka scored the game-winner midway through the third period. After falling behind, the Spy Ponders got even on a Gabby Russo goals. PLNR grabbed a 1-0 lead early on a goal by Shirley Wetmore. Next up for Arlington is a battled with #7 Bishop Feehan (Saturday, 6pm at Ed Burns).

– Bishop Feehan moved on with a 4-0 shutout win over the Newton Crush. Four different Shamrocks – Grace Nelson, Brooke Borges, Chloe Bryda and Molly Braga – each had a goal in the win and Avery Blanchard pitched the shutout in goal.

– HPNA advanced to a quarterfinal matchup with top-seed Austin Prep (Saturday, 4:30pm, Merrimack College) by blanking Reading, 2-0. Defenseman Chase Nassar had a first period goal, and Emma Skafas connected in the second period. In their regular season meeting, HPNA played well against the top seed in a 2-0 loss.
