MIAA Girls D1 First Round: Austin Prep, Longmeadow, Methuen/Tewksbury Win Big

* Top seeded Austin Prep picked up right where it left off from the regular season, moving to the quarterfinals after a 5-0 win over Hingham. Sam Taber had yet another huge game for the Cougars, scoring four goals. Maeve Carey had the other Austin Prep goal.

Methuen/Tewksbury

* Speaking of picking up where they left off, the same holds true for Tewksbury/Methuen’s Julia Masotta and Cassidy Gruning. Each had a hat trick in the Red Rangers 6-2 win over Westford Academy Val Crory and Lexi Warner scored for the Grey Ghosts.

Callie Wiley
Andover

* #4 Andover got a third period goal from Callie Wiley to lift the Warriors to a 3-2 win over Needham and a berth in the quarterfinals. Kate Gemmell and Lauren Adams also scored for Andover, while Britt Nawrocki and Lexi Schmalz had goals for the Rockets, who finish 13-7-2.

* #7 Longmeadow scored four power play goals in a 6-1 win over Masconomet. Jordan Kowalski scored twice for the Lancers, while Brigitte Goeler-Slough, Katherine Guidry, Alexis Pfalzgraf and Madison Fox all had one goal.
