MIAA EMass D3 South Final: Old Rochester/Fairhaven claims the crown

For Old Rochester/Fairhaven, it’s time to celebrate. The team stormed through the Eastern Mass. Division 3 South bracket and beat Rockland in the finals, 3-1, Sunday at Gallo Arena in Bourne for the program’s first South title.

Tayber Labonte had the game-winner and Sam Henrie had an empty-netter. Noah Strawn scored earlier for the winners while Chris McHugh, on a feed from brother Dan, scored for Rockland.

ORF next meets North champion Lowell in Wednesday’s D3 State Semifinal at Harvard’s Bright Center (7:30 p.m.). No. 5 seed ORF, now 23-3-0 for the season, dominated the 21-team Sectional defeating Foxboro (9-0), Hopkinton (3-2) and Dartmouth (6-3) prior to the championship conquest of Rockland.

No. 3 seed Rockland finished 21-2-3.
