MIAA Division One South Semifinal: #12 Walpole Edges #10 Falmouth, Advances To Final

SEMIFINAL

No. 12 Walpole 2, No.10 Falmouth 1

In Bourne, the Rebels’ run through the upside down world of this Sectional continued as they bounced the Cape & Islands Atlantic champion Clippers for their third straight one-goal win of the tournament. Goals by Joe Verderber (PPG) and Ethan McDonough staked Walpole to a 2-0 lead that Jack Curran (20 saves) protected, yielding only Jake McKenzie’s rebound goal midway through the second period. Freshman goalie Jack Braga (22 saves) played well for Falmouth.

Walpole (12-8-5) plays the winner of tonight’s other semifinal between No. 10 Franklin and No. 14 Archbishop Williams in Sunday’s final at Gallo. Falmouth finished the season at 14-10-1.
