#3 seed Hingham and #5 seed Austin Prep both punched their ticket to the Division 1 quarterfinal round Tuesday night.
– Hingham avenged one of its three regular season losses, advancing to a huge quarterfinal matchup with Arlington (see game story) with a 4-1 win over Franklin.
The Harbormen grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period. Alex Barzowskas gave Hingham an early 1-0 lead with a tip-in goal, assisted by Drew Carleton and Michael Garrity. Just six seconds before the period would end, junior Aidan Brazel scored a nifty goal.
A Sean Garrity goal, assisted by Barzal and Ace Concannon, upped the lead to 3-0 before Franklin would get on the scoreboard on a goal by Dominic Lampasona. But the Panthers (14-9-0) would get no closer. Billy Jacobus closed out the scoring for Hingham in the third period.
– Austin Prep busted open a close game after two periods with four third period strikes to eliminate Catholic Central League rival Archbishop Williams, 6-1.
The key goal for the Cougars came early in the third period on a shorthanded goal by freshman Jacob Duval, extending the AP lead to 3-0. Duval would complete his hat trick later on in the period. Derek Daley had a two-goal night for the Cougars, while Nick Saunders closed out the scoring late in the third period.
Jackson Sylvester had a power play goal for Archbishop Williams.
