– In a game perhaps more fitting for a championship game, heavies Arlington and Hingham hit the ice at Gallo Arena in a quarterfinal contest. Before a huge crowd, the Spy Ponders emerged victorious with a 4-2 to advance to a semifinal matchup with #2 Xaverian.

Hingham had defeated Arlington 4-1 in a regular season matchup.

Drew Fecteau Arlington

The game-winning goal was scored by Drew Fecteau with 2:31 to play in regulation, snapping home a rebound after a nice pad stop by Hingham goalie Luke Merian.

Arlington sophomore Jack Sadowski put his team ahead 1-0 with a second period strike on the power play, but that goal was matched shortly thereafter with a power play goal by Ryan Burns.

Sadowski’s second goal, also on the power play, put the Spy Ponders back on top, 2-1, with 10:18 to play in the third period. But again the Harbormen tied it, this time Aidan Brazel had the goal two minutes later to knot it up at 2-2.

Reid Malatesta sealed matters with an empty net goal for Arlington.

Max Lockwood Xaverian

– Xaverian moved on with a 2-1 win over #7 Belmont at the New England Sports Village. Senior Max Lockwood was the hero for the Hawks, banging home a rebound from the top of the crease with 3:12 left to snap a 1-1 deadlock.

The Hawks drew first blood when Joe DiMartino netted a first period goal. The Marauders, who finish an impressive 19-2-3, tied it up in the second period on a shorthanded tally by junior Shay Donahue.

– #13 BC High continued its magical post-season run, eliminating fifth-seeded Austin Prep, 1-0, the second straight 1-0 post-season win for the Eagles. Freshman Joe Feinberg scored the game’s lone goal, and it came in the first 30 seconds of play. BC High goaltender Jack Burke was solid all game long.

Austin Prep, playing its final MIAA game, had two goals disallowed by the referees in this game, the second of which came in the final minute of regulation.
