MIAA Boys Division 1 South Semifinals: Top Seed Duxbury Wins In 2 OT; #11 Seed Franklin Keeps Going

* Jack Venturell‘s second goal of the game, coming during the three-on-three double overtime, gave top-seeded Duxbury a hard-fought 3-2 win over Barnstable in the MIAA D1 South semifinals. Zach Stewart‘s goal gave the Dragons a 1-0 lead in the first period. Barnstable stormed back and grabbed a 2-1 lead with goals from Tim Storie and Chris Cordeiro. Venturell’s second goal of the night tied the game at 2-2.

* Franklin continued its great run through the post-season, as the last seed in the bracket downed Catholic Memorial 5-2, getting goals from five different scorers. Tom Tasker, C.J. Spillane, Joey Lizotte, Shane McCaffrey and Kyle Hedvig all scored for the Panthers. Will MacNeil and Chris Rooney had goals for CM, which finished at 14-8-1. Franklin will play Duxbury for the South sectional championship Sunday at Gallo Arena (6:15 pm).
