MIAA Boys D2 South First Round: Norwood, Southeast Regional Rally For Wins

Canton

* Top-seeded Canton raced to a 3-0 lead after the first period and cruised to a 6-0 win over Medway. Ryan Nolte scored two goals for the Bulldogs and Timmy Kelleher, Johnny Hagan, Anthony DelSignore and Eamon Kelly each had a goal. Canton will now face Oliver Ames in the quarterfinals Saturday at Canton Ice House (6:45pm).

* Oliver Ames advanced with a 4-3 win over Plymouth North. Jake Gottwald, Max Ward, Hunter Costello and Ryan Gottwald each had a goal in the win for the Tigers. Plymouth North finished up at 11-7-3. Oliver Ames fell to Canton 5-2, in the regular season.

Southeastern Regional

* Down 3-1 entering the third period, #2 Southeast Regional/West Bridgewater rallied for three goals and a 4-3 win over Sandwich.  Dan Monroe finished with two goals, while P.J. Page and Matt English had one each.  The Hawks now see Medfield on Saturday at Gallo Arena (5:45pm).

* A rally was also in the cards for #4 Norwood, as the Mustangs extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games with a 3-2 overtime win over Scituate. Jake Russo‘s second goal of the game won it in extra time. David Hayes also scored for Norwood, who now meets North Attleboro on Saturday at Gallo Arena (3:30pm).
