MIAA Boys D1 South First Round: Franklin, Wellesley Post Shutout Wins

* #11 Franklin moved into Saturday’s quarterfinal round by edging #6 Falmouth, 1-0. Shane McCaffrey scored the lone goal for the Panthers, and Ray Ivers made 21 saves for the shutout. Next up for Franklin is fellow Hockomock League foe Mansfield Saturday at Pirelli Arena (7:00pm)

* Goals by Emmit Coakley, Joe Fleming and Liam Janson buoyed #9 Wellesley to a 3-0 win over #8 Walpole. The Raiders had blanked Walpole in the second-to-last-game of the regular season. They get a date with top-seeded Duxbury on Saturday at Canton Ice House (4:30pm).
