The same 10 clubs populate this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Girls D2 Top 10. And in almost the same spots. There was a little shifting at the bottom of the rankings. At the top, not much separates the teams.
#1 Westwood (12-1-4) nipped Medway/Ashland, and then had a tie with Norwood. The Wolverines have a key matchup with Needham on Friday and face Dedham on Saturday.
#2 Walpole (13-3-1) was off Saturday after beating Natick (4-1) earlier in the week. The Rebels have just one game this week as well, a Wednesday date with King Philip.
#3 Canton (9-3-5) has now not allowed a goal in four games. The Bulldogs had a 0-0 standoff with Franklin, and got past Mansfield/OA/Foxboro 1-0. They will face Stoughton Wednesday and Hingham Saturday.
#5 Wellesley (11-3-3) had a nice week with wins over Braintree (3-1) and Newton Co-op (4-0). The Raiders look ahead to Natick (Wednesday) and Needham (Sunday).
#6 Matignon (10-5-2) had a shutout win over St. Joseph Prep. They are off until Saturday when they will see St. Peter Marian.
#7 Dennis-Yarmouth (13-3-0) is playing well with wins over Cape Cod Furies (4-0) and Marshfield (6-2). The McGaffigan twins – Kayla and Ava – continue to be a dynamic scoring duo. The Dolphins will see Archbishop Williams Wednesday and Pembroke Saturday, the #9 and #10 ranked teams.
Norwell (11-3-1) is at #8. The Clippers dispatched Bishop Stang (4-2) and Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake (3-0) to clinch a post-season berth. They face Latin Academy Wednesday before a big matchup with Duxbury Saturday.
#9 Archbishop Williams (9-6-1) will look to avenge an earlier loss to Dennis-Yarmouth on Wednesday before seeing St Mary’s Saturday. The Bishops beat Falmouth (6-2) Saturday.
#10 Pembroke (11-3-2) looks to get back to its winning ways Wednesday against Sandwich.
