For the first time in a while, there has been a change in the order of the top five in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Girls D1 Top 10.

That change is not at the very top, where #1 Austin Prep (11-0-0) keeps on putting up goose eggs, with two more shutouts this week over Archbishop Williams and Beverly/Danvers. The Cougars, who have allowed just three goals all season, will be challenged by Billerica/Chelmsford (Wednesday) and Hanover, NH (Saturday). Eighth-grader Samantha Taber has 14 goals.

Duxbury (12-0-1) is the new #2. The Dragons rolled over Marshfield (7-2) and Barnstable (4-1). They own the Division’s most prolific offense, with 78 goals scored. Duxbury has eight different players in double fugures, led by freshman Delaney Williams (21) and senior Emily Ballerene (20 pts).  A big week looms, with #6 Braintree on Wednesday and rival Hingham on Saturday.

#3 Andover matches Duxbury with a 12-0-1 mark, beating Hanover, NH Saturday in its only action. The Warriors have a huge one Wednesday with #5 Methuen/Tewksbury and get Acton-Boxboro Saturday. They have allowed just 11 goals all season.

A tie with Stoneham (1-1) drops St. Mary’s (10-1-1) to #4 this week. The Spartans did respond in a big way Saturday with a 6-0 shutout of Winthrop. Beverly/Danvers (Wednesday) and Matignon (Saturday) are on the docket this week.

Methuen/Tewksbury (11-1-1) prepared for Wednesday’s showdown with Andover, looking to avenge its only loss of the season, with wins over Top 10 teams Reading (8-3) and Shrewsbury (4-3). HPNA is Saturday’s opponent.

#6 Braintree (11-2-0) has been playing some solid hockey, most recently with wins over Milton (5-0) and Newton Co-op (6-0). Abby Holland is having a big offensive season for the Wamps, who get a strong Walpole team Saturday after Wednesday’s battle with Duxbury.

#7 Franklin (12-0-1) lost its perfect record with a 5-5 tie with Westwood. A Monday showdown with Walpole will be telling. Mansfield/OA/Foxboro is Saturday’s opponent.

#8 Reading (7-2-3) rebounded from the M/T loss by cooling off Melrose (6-2) Saturday. The Rockets need to be wary of Stoneham (Wednesday) and face #10 Arlington (8-2-2) on Saturday. The Spy Ponders had a loss (Billerica/Chelmsford) and tie (Wilmington) this past week.

Shrewsbury (6-2-3) is #9. The Colonials battled Methuen/Tewksbury hard Saturday and look ahead to LaSalle (Wednesday) and an interesting matchup Saturday with Longmeadow.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Needham (7-2-2), Masconmet (6-3-2), Hingham (8-4-2), Longmeadow (6-2-0), Boston Latin (10-3-1), Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading (10-3-1).
