Austin Prep (8-0-0) emerged victorious in Saturday’s heavyweight showdown with #2 St. Mary’s (7-1-0), taking a 2-0 win behind a pair of goals from eighth-grader Samantha Taber, one in the second period and one late in the third period. The teams will meet again later in the season.

The Cougars have another big one Monday taking on D2’s #2 Westwood, and face always-tough Billerica/Chelmsford Wednesday and Arlington Catholic Saturday.

The Spartans, who have been led offensively by Samantha Porazinski (15 pts) and Codi Butt (12 pts), are off until hosting Archbishop Williams on Saturday.

#3 Duxbury (8-0-1) continues to show off its offensive depth, as eight different skaters scored in Saturday’s 9-0 win over Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake. The Dragons have six players who have netted five goals or more, led by Molly Duvall and Delaney Williams with nine each. A couple of top D2 teams are on this week’s docket with Canton (Wednesday) and Notre Dame of Hingham (Saturday).

Andover

#4 Andover (10-0-1) has shown no signs of slowing down. The Warriors officially qualified for the post-season with Saturday’s 2-1 win over Masconomet. Senior Emma Gilmartin and freshman Lauren Adams have been offensive leaders. Next up is a Saturday date with Central Catholic.

Since losing to Andover, #5 Methuen/Tewksbury (8-1-0) has been dominant, most recently grabbing wins over Lincoln-Sudbury and Matignon. Senior Julia Masotta leads the state with 22 goals. The Red Rangers get Boston Latin (Wednesday) and Concord-Carlisle (Saturday).

#6 Reading (5-1-2) is up one spot, coming off a 7-1 win over Belmont. Senior Kat Paradis (11-6-17) is having a solid year. The Rockets look ahead to Lexington (Wednesday) and Burlington (Saturday).

Braintree (7-2-0) moves up as well after a solid week that featured wins over Walpole (4-1) and previously unbeaten Needham (6-3). The Wamps will play Natick on Wednesday and Weymouth on Saturday.

#8 Franklin is a perfect 10-0-0 after weekend wins over Medway-Ashland (6-3) and Dedham (4-2)., officially qualifying for the post-season. Seniors Regan Patterson and Cassi Ronan have been a dynamic scoring duo for the Panthers, who look ahead to Norwood on Saturday.

#9 Arlington (6-1-1) lost a two-goal third period lead Saturday in a 4-4 standoff with Winchester. Belmont (Wednesday) and Wakefield (Friday) are this week’s opposition. Erin O’Brien leads the attack with 11 goals.

Back in the Top 10 this week is Shrewsbury (5-1-3).  The Colonials had solid wins over Billerica/Chelmsford (5-1) and Algonquin/Hudson (7-1). They have one game this week, against league foe Auburn on Wednesday.
