Massachusetts Boys D2 Top 15
Pre-season #1 Canton (3-0-0) stays right where it began in this first in-season HNIB News Mass. Boys D2 Top 15. The Bulldogs were impressive in winning the Jim Gormley Cup to start the season, and then downed D1 Franklin. They are off until December 29th when they face Westwood.
A fast start propels Lincoln-Sudbury (4-0-0) up to #2. The Warriors have oustscored their opponents 27-8 out of the chute, including three league wins and a solid 5-1 conquest of D1 Natick Saturday. Next up is another D1 test – Winchester on December 29th.
#3 Winthrop (3-1-0) is also flexing its offensive muscles, with 25 goals in its first four games. Seniors Luke Evangelista and Sam Yarrow have been putting the puck in the net with regularity. The Vikings welcome Falmouth (ME) to town Thursday, and face off with Lynn on Saturday.
#4 Medfield (3-0-1) remained unbeaten, surviving a tough outing Saturday, 2-1 over Norton. The Warriors have a big layoff, not returning to action until a January 5 battle with Ashland.
#5 Stoneham (2-1-0) was off yesterday. Looking ahead, the Spartans have a week that includes hosting the Stoneham Holiday Classic, facing off in a first-round game against Groton-Dunstable.
Winning four of its first five games, Oliver Ames has moved up to #6. The Tigers head to the Matignon Invitational, taking on the hosts on Thursday.
A big 4-1 win over Gloucester moves Masconomet (2-1-0) up to #7. The Chieftains take on Plymouth South Wednesday in the first round of the Stoneham Holiday Classic on Wednesday.
Unranked to start the season, unbeaten Marblehead (4-0-0) is now #8 thanks to a great start to the season the included big wins over Weymouth and Danvers. The Magicians will have a big test Wednesday in the opening round of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Tournament, taking on WMass power Westfield.
Tewksbury (2-1-0) stays firm at #9. This week, the Redmen make their annual trek to Maine to take part in the Yankee Ford Holiday Hockey Classic for three games.
#10 Westwood (3-0-1) has allowed just four goals in four games looking ahead to its battle Saturday with Canton.
Rounding out the Top 15 are #11 Gloucester (3-1-1), #12 Lynnfield (2-1-1), #13 Danvers (1-1-1), #14 Wilmington (2-2-0) and #15 Triton (2-0-0).
