This week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Boys D2 Top 15 features some serious shuffling, although things pretty much remain the same at the top.

#1 Canton (8-0-0) continues to take down all comers as it remains perfect on the season. Most recently the Bulldogs beat King Philip (2-1) and Oliver Ames (5-2) as Timmy Kelleher scored twice. Foxboro (Wednesday) and Stoughton (Saturday) provide this week’s opposition.

Despite Saturday’s 2-2 tie with Longmeadow, Lincoln-Sudbury (7-1-1) remains at #2. Juniors Angelo Venuto and Johnny Oblak have been offensive dynamos thus far. The Warriors take on Central Catholic (Monday) and then Concord-Carlisle (Saturday).

Andrew Gotts
Masconomet

Saturday’s 6-1 conquest of North Reading was #3 Masconomet’s (8-1-0) eighth straight victory. The Chieftains have now outscored their opposition by a 44-12 margin. With a goal and three assists in the win, senior Andrew Gotts (23 pts) has eclipsed the 100-career point plateau. Masco looks ahead to a big Cape Ann League clash Saturday with Newburyport.

Shawn McTavish
Medfield

#4 Medfield (5-0-2) falls one spot after tying up Westwood on Saturday (1-1). The Warriors are scheduled to take on Medway (Wednesday) and Norwood (Saturday). Seniors Shawn McTavish and Steve O’Leary are leading scorers.

The big mover of the week is Danvers (5-1-2), all the way up to #5 after 4-1 NEC North wins over Winthrop and Saugus. Sophomore Adam Brideo has been solid between the pipes for the Falcons, who have surrendered just nine goals. Woburn (Monday), Peabody (Wednesday) and Medford (Saturday) provide the opposition this week.

Winthrop (7-3-0) checks in at #6, rebounding from the Danvers loss to down Beverly. The Vikings get Bishop Fenwick (Thursday) and Saugus (Saturday) this week.

Tewksbury (7-3-0) moves up to #7. The Redmen did fall to Lincoln-Sudbury but responded with a big win over Methuen Saturday. Kyle Lombardo (11 pts) and William O’Keefe (10 pts) lead the attack. A Saturday date with Haverhill is next up.

Jacob Garfield
Marblehead

#8 Marblehead (8-2-0) had an up-and-down week, falling to Saugus (4-1) then downing Peabody (9-3). The Headers travel to Medford (Wednesday) and East Longmeadow (Saturday). Senior Jacob Garfield continues to have a big year.

#9 Oliver Ames (7-4-0) played well in Saturday’s loss to top-ranked Canton. The Tigers look to get back on the winning track Wednesday against North Attleboro, and take on Taunton Saturday. Seniors Cullen Gallagher and Max Ward are off to good offensive starts.

Joe Bova
Boston Latin

Westwood (4-1-3) cracks the Top 10 this week after the tie with Medfield. The Wolverines have a non-leaguer with Shrewsbury Wednesday before seeing Ashland on Saturday.

Red-hot Boston Latin (6-2-2) returns to the Mass. D2 rankings at #13. The Wolfpack are 6-0-1 in their last seven after wins over Concord-Carlisle (7-3) and Haverhill (6-1). They have five players with double digit points led by junior Joe Bova (13 pts).
