Jim Clark joined Hockey Night in Boston in December 2019, and has covered high school hockey in Massachusetts for more than three decades. He also covers high school hockey and is a multiplatform editor for the Boston Globe, and previously spent two decades as high school hockey reporter at the Boston Herald, where he also served as the high schools editor from 2000-06. Clark was honored by the Mass. State Hockey Coaches Association with its William Stewart Award for contributions to the sport in May 2019, and also received the Joel Perlmutter Award for media coverage in 2006. A graduate of UMass, he also spent eight years as sports editor/reporter at the Sentinel & Enterprise in Fitchburg, and has extensively covered high school hockey in Central and Western Mass. as well as Connecticut.

Chase Carney Lynnfield

Lynnfield continued to establish itself as a Division 3 team to watch in the early stages of the season, remaining unbeaten with a 5-3 non-league win over Winthrop. Chase Carney netted the hat trick for the Pioneers, with Will Steadman and Tyler Scoppettuolo added a goal apiece. Drew Damiani also had two assists.

* Medway scored a big 4-1 nonleague win over King Philip behind 39 saves from Evan Monaghan. Pari Lykourinos scored twice for the Mustangs. … Monaghan also had 21 saves in Medway’s 3-2 win over Smithfield (R.I.). Nate VanSaun, Sean Murphy and Lykourinos netted the goals in that win.

* Ryan Dolan scored twice, Kevin Arthur and James Tyer had a goal and assist apiece, and unbeaten Medfield outlasted Westwood, 4-1, in a Tri-Valley matchup.

* Brayden Holt made 19 saves and Danvers edged Beverly, 3-2, in the Northeastern Conference. Jake Ryan netted the winner in the third period for the Falcons, who also got goals from Ty Langlais and Caleb White.

* Brendan Abban had two goals and an assist, Anthony Birolini and Brandon Perry a goal and two assists apiece, and Pembroke took down Plymouth South, 6-2, in the Patriot League. Cody Cantino and Stephen Locke rounded out the scoring, and James Stone had 25 saves.

Essex Tech

* David Egan netted a hat trick and Essex Tech doubled up Saugus, 4-2, to remain unbeaten. … Cam Doherty, Brady Leonard and Jaydan Vargas all notched their first varsity goals in the Hawks’ 5-1 win over Hamilton-Wenham.

* Charlie Caputo had a hat trick and Colin Alessi added a pair of goals, leading Stoughton/Brockton past Bellingham, 7-2.

* Justin Gouveia and Jack Jedrey had a pair of goals each and Bishop Stang blanked Southeastern, 4-0, with Brayden Bennett and Matt Dore combining for the shutout.

* Joe Scanlon scored twice, Billy Johns had a goal and two assists, and Nashoba edged North Middlesex, 4-1, in the Roy Conference. Kameron Pierce chipped in a goal for the Wolves.

* Hopedale crunched Leominster, 11-0, behind hat tricks from Cam Collins (three assists) and Sean McGee (two assists). Jake Frohn added two goals and three assists for the Raiders.

* Mikey Desmarais and Colin Underwood each scored twice and Dracut/Tyngsboro doubled up Haverhill, 6-3, in DCL/MVC 3 action. Cam Caron and Drew DuRoss added goals for D/T.

Danny Field Methuen

* Methuen’s Danny Field and Cambridge’s Wiley Welch each had the goals in their teams’ 1-1 tie.

* In Western Mass., Charles May (13 saves) posted the shutout for Amherst, which got goals from Carter Beckwith, Cooper Beckwith and John Dyjach in a 3-0 Fay Division win over Wahconah. … The Hurricanes also clipped Agawam, 3-1, with Yuuki Ishida, Joseph Freniere and Nicholas Paul accounting for the offense and May stopping 29 shots.
