Gary Demopoulos has been covering prep school hockey for the HNIB News for over 30 years, and has been the editor of the HNIB News since 2005. A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. Gary also helps organize and oversee HNIB's many summer tournaments and festivals for scholastic players.

Austin Prep

* Austin Prep won its showdown with St. Mary’s, knocking the Spartans from the unbeaten ranks with a 3-0 win at Connery Rink, putting the Cougars in the driver’s seat for a Catholic Central League crown. Felicia Zuccola scored late in the first period for the only goal AP would need. Holding that 1-0 lead into the third period, the Cougars put the game away with two goals in a 1:21 span, a power play strike by Frankie Frelick and a tally from Isabel Hulse.

Samantha Fantasia

* Acton-Boxboro kept its playoff hopes alive with a 7-3 win over Beverly/Danvers. The Colonials were led by Cailey Ryan, who scored three goals and added two helpers, and Jillian Loebs who registered two goals and three assists.

* Billerica/Chelmsford junior Samantha Fantasia became the latest to crack the 100-career point plateau, with points in a 5-0 win over Winthrop to close out the season.

Krista Anderson

* Medfield/North officially punched its playoff ticket as goals from Krista Anderson and Brenna Smith got the Warriors past stubborn Framingham, 2-1.

* In the Cape & Islands League, D2 #5 Dennis-Yarmouth and D2 #9 Falmouth played to a 2-2 standoff.  Sam McKenzie and Ryann McDonald scored goals for the Clippers, while Lily Holmes and Georgie Snow countered for the Dolphins.

Caitlyn Burke

* Jess McPherson scored the lone goal and Caitlyn Burke was stellar in goal as Waltham nipped Boston Latin, 1-0, putting the Hawks in position to grab the MVC/Dual County Small title.

* Hannah Keating and  Katerina Yelsits each had two goals as D1 #3 HPNA remained unbeaten with a 7-0 blanking of Masconomet. Deanna Bosco, Reese Pascucci and Cassy Doherty each had a goal as well.

* Bishop Fenwick doubled up Medford/Malden, 6-3 getting two goals apiece from Lauren Diranian and Gabby Davern. Also scoring for the Crusaders were Abbey Millman and Emma Perry.

* Goals by Allie McDonough, Morgan RoachMaggie Curran and Noelle Connolly powered Norwood to a 4-3 win over St. Peter Marian.

Makalya Doherty

* D1 #5 Arlington clinched a share of its second straight Middlesex League Liberty title, getting past Belmont, 3-1, with goals from Maddie Krepelka, Gabby Russo and Makayla Doherty.

Kerryn O’Connell

* Algonquin/Hudson junior Kerryn O’Connell had quite the day Saturday, scoring all five of the T-Hawks goals in a 5-1 conquest of Longmeadow.

* Two goals from Haley Nelson and one from Morgan Lessa led Stoughton/Sharon to a 3-1 win over St. Joseph Prep.

*  Oakmont and Bishop Feehan played to a 2-2 tie. Annka Gendron and Ashley Jorge scored goals for Oakmont.

* Lexington picked up a huge win towards post-season qualification, downing Reading, 6-2, preventing the Rockets from clinching their own playoff berth. Lena Cassidy scored three goals and Shea Freda added two to pace the Minutemen attack.

* Behind two more goals from Angelina DiGirolamo, Woburn clinched its share of the Middlesex League Liberty title with a 2-0 blanking of Winchester.
