Bella Freitas
St. Mary’s

* St. Mary’s took an early-season Catholic Central League showdown with Archbishop Williams, taking down the Bishops 4-1 with two goals from freshman Bella Freitas, and single tallie by Kasey Litwin and Alyssa Norden.

* After losing its opener to Methuen/Tewksbury, Andover rebounded in a big way, knocking off defending state champion Shrewsbury, 2-0, behind goals from Bella DiFiore and Nora Hurley.

* The rough-and-tumble MVC/Dual County Large had three great league games to open up the season. Defending champ Shrewsbury got goals from Blaire Fay and Allie Martel to hold off the Lindians, 2-1.

Bree Lawrence Methuen/Tewksbury

Elsewhere, Methuen/Tewksbury gave new head coach Dave O’Hearn a win in his first game as the Red Rangers stifled Andover, 2-0, behind goals from Kat Schille and Bree Lawrence. And the league’s newest membe, Lincoln Sudbury, served notice it will be a factor with a 3-0 blanking of HPNA as Harper Friedholm had two goals and Ally Quinn a goal and assist.

Margo Watkins Longmeadow

* Longmeadow opened its season with an impressive win, knocking off Algonquin, 6-2. Natalia Elson scored twice, Milana Shuman had a goal and two assists, and Margo Watkins a goal and assist. Maeve Doherty and Rylee Welch also had goals for the Lancers.

Ava Baker
Malden Catholic

* Malden Catholic travelled up north to Maine and took home a convincing 6-0 win over Cheverus. Ava Baker and Antonia DiZoglio lead a balanced scoring attack with a goal and assist each and Megan Mullarky had the shutout in goal.

* In Catholic Central League action, Bishop Stang blanked Arlington Catholic, 2-0. Alexis Pettinato had her first varsity goal, and Madisyn Blanchard had a goal and assist. Freshman Izzy Duarte pitched the shutout between the pipes.

* Defenseman Eleni Speck scored twice, and Abby McInerney and Erin Dee each had a goal as PLNR downed Shawsheen/Bedford, 4-1.

* Gloucester made it three straight wins to start the season, downing Medford, 3-0 behind goals from Abby Lowthers, Halia Taylor and Jenna Connelly.

* Boston Latin showed it will be a factor in the MVC/Dual County Small race with a 6-0 win over Central Catholic, getting three goals from Maeve Murray and a goal and assist apiece from Riley Porter and Angela Wells.

* Braintree registered a key 2-0 Bay State Conference win over Walpole. Nora Shea had both goals for the Wamps. The shutout went to Eva Surette.

* Two goals apiece from Heather McGinnis and Sophie Schiller powered Hanover past Quincy/North Quincy in the Patriot League, 5-2. Freshman Steph Lumaghini notched her first varsity goal in the win.

Ivorie Arguin
Pope Francis

* The all senior line of Ivorie Arguin (1-3-4), Lily Hayes (1-2-3) and Ela Rabidoux (2 goals) combined for nine points as Pope Francis blanked Auburn, 6-0.

* Emily Spadorcia scored three goals and Ava Hines added the other in Norwood’s 4-0 shutout win over Hopkinton/Dover Sherborn. Two of Spadorcia’s goals came shorthanded.

Megan Carney Duxbury

* Defending Division 2 state champion Duxbury opened its season in a big way, blanking Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake 7-0 with hat tricks from Megan Carney and Maddie Greenwood. Freshman Erin Munro had her first varsity goal.

* Framingham doubled up Newton Co-op 6-3 as Carolyn Cotta led the way with a hat trick.

Sophia Boucher Nauset Regional

* Nauset/Monomoy took care of Barnstable in the Cape & Islands League, riding two goals from Sophia Boucher to a 4-1 win.

Lily Chamoun

* Milton goalie Lily Chamoun had her second shutout to start the season as the Wildcats blanked Wellesley, 2-0. Molly Murphy and Nayeli Thayer had the goals.

* Sophia LaFauci netted a pair of goals, and Angalisa Caceda and Avery Landry each had one in Waltham’s 4-2 win over Wayland/Weston.

* Belmont/Watertown beat Melrose, 3-0. Allison Caputo, Molly Driscoll and Ruby Jones each had a goal in the win.

Grace Holden Barnstable

* Two goals from Ally McEneaney and one each from Grace Holden, Penny Baroni and Avery Braley powered Barnstable past Dennis-Yarmouth/CCA, 5-1.

* Danielle O’Neil had all three Dedham goals in the Marauders’ 3-0 win over Westwood.

Kelly Holmes
King Philip

* Masconomet shut out Medford, 2-0. Hannah Coleman had a goal and assist and Mackenzie Cronin notched 22 saves for her first varsity shutout.

* Senior Kelly Holmes had two goals and two assists to lead King Philip to a 5-3 come-from-behind win over Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro.
