Gary Demopoulos has been covering prep school hockey for the HNIB News for over 30 years, and has been the editor of the HNIB News since 2005. A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. * Defenseman Ava Baker fired home a shot from the point with 15 seconds remaining to snap a 1-1 tie and give D1 #2 Malden Catholic a 2-1 win over D2 #1 Duxbury. Antonia DiZoglio‘s goal tied the score for the Lancers, after Duxbury’s Megan Carney had given the Dragons a 1-0 lead in the opening minute of play.

* Lincoln-Sudbury (15-2-1) clinched the MVC/Dual County Large title, going on the road and blanking Methuen/Tewksbury, 3-0. Harper Friedholm scored the only goal the Warriors would need in the second period, and Tatum Friedholm and Ally Quinn (ENG) added third period strikes.

Casey Pestilli Sandwich

* Sandwich picked up a 3-0 win over Martha’s Vineyard. Casey Pestilli and Brooklyn Benting each had a goal and assist. Quinn Anderson had a goal and Elisabeth Stutzman contributed a pair of assists.

* Shawsheen/Bedford inched closer to clinching a post-season berth, holding off Newburyport, 5-4. Sophia Demeo, Anna McEachern, Violet Lorusso, Lucy Scoville and Macy Savage each had a goal in the win.

Brooke McNiff Gloucester

* Goals by Jenna Connolly, Abby Lowthers and Brooke McNiff powered Gloucester to a 3-0 blanking of Masconomet.

* Savannah Powers scored twice, and Juliana Ferragamo and Kelsi Grimes chipped in with a goal apiece in Woburn’s 4-1 conquest of Lexington. The Tanners clinched a playoff berth with the win. They are now 9-4-2.

* Boston Latin snuck past Acton-Boxboro, 2-1, thanks to a pair of goals from freshman Angela Wells. Kelly McKenna had 17 saves in goal.

Quinn Bennett

* Third period goals from Quinn Bennett, Gabi Locke and Chase Nassar powered HPNA to a 3-1 win over Westford Academy.

* Braintree blanked Weymouth 2-0 to get back to the .500 mark. Emma Walsh anad Callie Burchill each had a goal for the Wamps.

* Lily Schmalz fired home two goals, and Laura Porras, Erin McDonnell and Bella D’Amelio had goals in Needham’s 5-1 victory over Framingham.

* Milana Shuman‘s third period goal completed the comeback and propelled Longmeadow to a 3-2 win over Pope Francis, the Lancers second win over the Cardinals this year. Maeve Doherty and Ava Saunders also had goals for Longmeadow.

* Norwell/Scituate/Abington rolled past Hanover, 6-2. Offensive leaders for NSA were Bella Burns (1-4-5), Ally Kelley (1-2-3), Natasha Mikus (1-2-3) and Sara Grace Edelman (1-2-3).

Calleigh Vurpillatte Whitman-Hanson/SL

* Georgia Murray scored four goals in Bishop Feehan’s 6-0 shutout of Arlington Catholic. Molly Braga and Grace Nelson also scored in the win.

* Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake doubled up West/East Bridgewater, 4-2. Goals came from Brenna Hohmann, Christina Curran, Caitlin Dilley and Calleigh Vurpillatte.
