MIAA Division: 1

The three-time defending league champs enter the new season with a host of experienced returners and talented new players expected to contribute right out of the gate.

Catie Kampersal Peabody/Lynnfield/NR

The experience up front comes from senior Lily Piscatelli, juniors Jenna DiNapoli, Hannah Gromko and Ella Chase, and sophomore Catie Kampersal (12 pts). Freshmen Ava Buckley, Sara Powers, Vanessa Stenmeyer and Alexa Pepper add quality depth.

Senior Catherine Sweeney and junior Penny Spack will be leaders on defense. Freshmen Leah Buckley and Chloe Gromko are two blue line newcomers.

PLNR also returns experience in the cage with senior Audrey Buckley.

Emma Holmes Winthrop

WINTHROP (10-3-1)

Coach: Anthony Martucci

MIAA Division: 1

Having graduated just two players from a team that was impressive a year ago, things are definitely looking at Winthrop, which fully plans on challenging for a Northeastern Hockey League title.

Julia Holmes Winthrop

The offense is full of players who contributed heavily last year, including senior Mia Martucci (28 pts), juniors Emma Holmes (30 pts), Julia Holmes (28 pts), Mia Norris (22 pts) and Lily Tallent, sophomores Sami Dimento (14 pts) and Hannah Parker (14 pts) and freshman Talia Martucci. Senior transfer Kendall Brant is in the program.

Abby Holmes Winthrop

Senior Elle English, junior Abby Holmes, junior Casey Petersen and sophomore Adrianna Rizzotto form the defensive braintrust. Eighth-graders Avalina Coffey and Teegan Perreira will press for time.

The Vikings also have experience in goal with senior Summer Tallent back for her fifth varsity campaign.

Elsa Wood Marblehead

MARBLEHEAD (5-4-3)

Coach: Brittany Smith

MIAA Division: 1

It was a solid year one for coach Smith last winter, one the Headers hope to improve on this year.

The team will look to get some offensive production from senior Hadley Wales, junior Sophie Zerilli and freshman Elsa Wood (8 pts).

Junior stalwart Hannah Tsouvales leads the Marblehead defensive unit in front of sophomore goalie Lily Francoeur.

NEWBURYPORT (6-4-2)

Coach: Dan Robinson

MIAA Division: 1

Last year was the Clippers first as a stand-along program, and they did well, finishing above the .500 mark. Year two welcomes a new coach in Robinson, who looks to build on the foundation of last year’s success.

A trio of seniors – Fiona Dunphy, Grace Kelleher and Hannah Gross – will be asked to lead the offensive attack.

Senior Isabel Kirby backbones the defense, while the Clippers welcome two new seasoned goaltenders in junior Teagan Wilson and freshman Ella Pulic.

Jamie Dupont Beverly/Danvers

BEVERLY/DANVERS (4-8-2)

Coach: Matt Lampert

MIAA Division: 1

New head coach Lampert is looking for good team defense from this group, and hopes to get more scoring from the power play.

Back to lead the Panthers offense is senior Jamie DuPont. Junior Sadie Papamechail is a vital cog on the blue line. Sophomore goalie Megan McGinnity is back in goal.

Newcomers Julia Chirico, Emily Mahoney and Caroline Horn hope to have an impact with the club.

GLOUCESTER/ROCKPORT (3-10-2)

Coach: Caitlyn Bernick

MIAA Division: 2

Youth will be served this season for the Fishermen, who could roster as many as six eighth-graders.

The offense will need to get production out of returning junior Aria Caputo and sophomores Sydney Bouchie and Jenna Connelly.

Sophomore Brooke McNiff will be involved heavily in the defensive end. With both netminders from last season gone, eighth-grader Kaydin Cusumano could get the call between the pipes.

Sage Smith Masconomet

MASCONOMET (2-12-1)

Coach: Ryan Sugar

MIAA Division: 2

A solid core of returners ready to improve on last winter with be bolstered by a host of middle school newcomers hoping to open some eyes.

Up front, senior Sage Smith, senior Alex Medeiros, junior Bitsy King, sophomore McKenna Dockery and freshman Maddie Kenny are back for the Chieftains.

Sophomore Bella Finn and freshman Allie LaCava will be vital to the team’s defensive play.

In the nets, returning sophomore McKenzie Cronin and eighth-grader Madie Dupuis will handle the task in the nets.

Juliana Steriti Medford

MEDFORD CO-OP

Coach: Brittani Lanzilli

MIAA Division: 1

There is a new bench boss in Medford with Brittani Lanzilli, one of the top all-time players in the program’s history, taking over the job. She reports this year’s club, which co-ops with Malden, Revere and Everett, will be young.

The team does have a nucleus of four seniors up front to lead the way in Isabella Sasso, Keena Swanson, Olivia Tufts and Julia McDonough.

Sophomore Juliana Steriti is a key defenseman. The team’s goalie – Erin Alves – is a sixth-grader that Lanzilli called a “young phenom.”

** Shawsheen/Bedford joins the Northeastern Hockey League this winter under new head coach Katie O’Shea. No information was available as of post-time.
