Mass. Girls HS Hockey – Middlesex League Semifinals: Top 2 Seeds Arlington, Woburn Reach Saturday’s Final

The top two seeds in the Middlesex League girls tournament will face off Saturday (7:30pm Stoneham Arena) for the title after both posted semifinal wins on Thursday.

Top-seeded Arlington had a battle with Winchester, but ultimately prevailed 2-1. With the scored tied at 1-1 midway through the second half, Olivia DeMarco notched the game-winner for the Spy Ponders (10-0-2). Maddie Krepelka had a first half goal as well.

Meanwhile, second-seeded Woburn (9-1-2) advanced with a 6-1 win over Burlington, handing the Lady Devils their first loss of the season. The Tanners started fast scoring three quick goals and taking a 4-0 halftime lead. Mackenzie Russo led the way with a hat trick, while Maddie Soderquist added two goals and Aly Haggerty one.

The teams have played twice this season, skating to a 2-2 tie on opening night, and Arlington taking a 4-2 win in the second game of the season.
