Four programs will play the season as Independents this winter, including a new varsity program at Malden Catholic. Latin Academy is no longer in a co-op deal with Fontbonne, but will roster a handful of Fontbonne players this season.
OLD ROCHESTER
Last Year’s Record: 5-13-2
With the SEMGHL now defunct, Old Rochester will go the independent route this winter with a senior-laden squad.
Up front, senior captain Carly Drew and seniors Isabelle Stone and Amanda Orciuch are three key returnees for coach Ted Drew. A newcomer to keep an eye on in the forward ranks is Elizabeth Kilpatrick.
On the blue line, seniors Avery Hathaway and Emma Deterra will team up with newcomers Lily Cook and Grace Long. Senior Meg Craig, who missed last season due to injury, is back to handle the goaltending chores.
MALDEN CATHOLIC
Last Year’s Record: New Varsity Program
The Lancers unveil their new girls varsity program this winter. They will have a short bench in year one, but be sure that coach Guy Angiuoni will have his club playing hard. Focus will be on development and team building.
Forwards looking to contribute include junior Susan Hobart, sophomore Sadie Bowden, and freshmen Antonia DiZoglio, Amelia Hansen, Lexi Engvaldsen and Erin Smail.
Key defensemen in front of sophomore goalie Danielle DeJon will be freshman M.K. Zablocki and freshman Juliana Angiuoni.
SHAWSHEEN/BEDFORD
Last Year’s Record: 2-14-0
The Rams overall will be on the young side, but nevertheless look to be competitive.
Key forwards for coach Bob Roach project to be senior Emily Sartori and juniors Amber Hurley and Lainey Meade.
Sophomores Caitlyn Aprile and Kelsey Giordano are back on defense, while Elaine Munroe (freshman) and Kaitlyn Sacco (eighth grade) should be in the goalie rotation.
LATIN ACADEMY
Last Year’s Record: 4-15-1
Just two seniors are gone from last year’s Dragons squad, and coach Caroline English is optimistic about some solid play this winter.
Forwards ready to go include returners like seniors Fiona Flaherty and Maeve Olsen, junior Jill Gallagher, sophomores Christine Chinetti, Alana Donovan, Emer Ryan and Maeve McCarthy, and eighth-grader Kate Greene.
The Dragons have their entire defensive core back in seniors Delia Walsh and Emily Kraunelis, sophomroe Maeve Roche and freshmen Mary Kate Linso and Colleen McGrath.
