Canton has been the class of this highly-competitive four-team league but things could get closer this year, as King Philip has some scoring production back. Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro will be tough under new head coach Jamie Mullen, while Franklin is in rebuilding mode.

CANTON (8-1-1)

Coach: Dennis Aldrich

The Bulldogs have been a stout defensive group the last few years. They will be again and if the offensive can find enough scoring, look for Canton to be amongst the D2 elite again.

That offensive production will be asked from returning veterans Tess Khoury, a senior, Payton McDonough, a senior, and Audrey Koen, a junior, all team captains. Sophomores Devan Spinale and Maggie Dailey move up to the forward ranks this winter.

Senior captain Allie McCabe and junior Maya Battista are a pair of rock-solid rearguards for coach Aldrich, while junior Carolyn Durand has already established herself as one of Mass. Girls hockey’s premier netminders.

Coach: Ken Assad

With their top goal scorers returnng and experience on the back end, the Warriors seem primed to make a run at a Hockomock title and be a tough out come tournament time.

A scoring nucleus up front will consist of senior Sydney O’Shea (21 pts), senior Morgan Cunningham (12 pts – Plymouth State commit), senior Jen Daniels (15 pts) and sophomore Kelly Holmes (16 pts). Freshman Cate Hart will look to chip in.

Defensively, senior Alison Donovan (8 pts), junior Brielle Herron and sophomore Mara Boldy will handle things.

Junior Mallory Johnston is a returning starter between the pipes for coach Assad.

Katie LeBlanc Franklin

FRANKLIN (6-3-0)

Coach: Margie Burke

It will be a rebuilding season for the Panthers, who have a strong freshman class coming in. Hope is the youngsters can get up to speed quickly.

Senior captain Maggie McCaffery will be a leader in the offensive end, with senior Emma Hunt, junior Molly Hurley and Avery Greco key forwards back as well.

The defense will feature seniors Katie Leblanc and Sammi Wong, and junior Shaw Downing.

Two goalies graduated, so the Panthers will rely on two freshmen newcomers in Izzy Brown and Audrey Ford.

** Mansfield/Oliver Ames/Foxboro should be in the mix as well under new head coach Jamie Mullen.
