Gary Demopoulos has been covering prep school hockey for the HNIB News for over 30 years, and has been the editor of the HNIB News since 2005. A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years. Gary also helps organize and oversee HNIB's many summer tournaments and festivals for scholastic players.

* Casey Roth was the key factor in Falmouth’s 6-4 win over Sandwich in their Cape & Islands League showdown, notching two goals and two assists for the Clippers. Maeve Turner, Avery Johnsen, Jane Hostetter and Rylinn Briggs also had goals in the win.

Boston Latin

* Boston Latin picked up a huge win, getting great goaltending from Kelly McKenna and goals from Riley Porter and Sophia Ginsburg in a 2-1 win over D1 #2 Notre Dame Academy. The win lifted the Wolfpack to a 6-2-1 record.

Maggie Mullen

* Milton took down Pope Francis, 2-1, getting 32 saves from Lila Chamoun and goals by Maggie Mullen and Nayeli Thayer.

* Archbishop Williams broke a six-game losing streak, blanking Weymouth, 4-0 behind two goals from Julie Murphy, and singles by Emily Fleming and Sierra Reardon.

* Shawsheen/Bedford notched a Northeastern Hockey League win with a 3-1 decision over Marblehead. Alexis Fox, Rebecca Sobol and Lucy Scoville each had a goal in the win.

* Lily Schmalz had a hat trick, and Sarah Porras and Bella D’Amelio added one each in Needham’s 5-0 win over Wayland/Weston.

* Chloe Rabazzi had the game-winning goal as Burlington got past stubborn Stoneham/Wilmington, 2-1. Caitlyn Tremblay also had a goal for the Lady Devils.

Callie Pineau

* NSA knocked Hanover from the unbeaten ranks with a 4-0 win. Red-hot Callie Pineau scored three more goals, while Bella Burns also scored and Lainey Burns chipped in withree assists.

Grace Holden Barnstable

* Barnstable took on Rhode Island power LaSalle and came away with a 2-0 win. Grace Holden and Ally McEneaney had the goals and Mia Raspante the shutout in goal.

* Hingham kept Archbishop Williams in its slump, getting two goals from freshman Hannah Lasch in a 5-3 win at the Tenney Cup. Caroline Doherty, Addie Garrity and Reese Pompeo all had goals as well in the win.

Sami Norton

*D1 #1 Duxbury got its revenge on Bishop Feehan, blanking the Shamrocks, 4-0, in a Tenney Cup clash. Shae Martin, Reese Porter, Maddie Greenwood and Sami Norton all lit the lamp for the Dragons.

Caitlin Fortuna Hanover

* Hanover remained unbeaten, doubling up Latin Academy 4-2. Caitlin Fortuna, Erin Condon, Vanessa Federico and Abby Hanna each had a goal in the win.

Margo Watkins Longmeadow

* Longmeadow got back on the winning track, taking down Auburn, 4-2, on New Year’s Day. Jane Pelletier had two goals for the Lancers, and both Margo Watkins and Avery Ireland added a goal and assist apiece.

* In an MIAA Endowment game, Martha’s Vineyard took down Needham, 6-3, Izzy Blake scored twice, and both Emily Coogan and Elle Mone chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Jen Birolini Pembroke

* Pembroke won the Judy Gormley Cup in dramatic fashion, rallying from a 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 OT win over Sandwich. Jen Birolini had herself a day for the Titans, scoring all four goals.

Pope Francis

* Pope Francis closed out the its 2023 slate with a 5-1 win over Beverly/Danvers. Ivorie Arguin and Kaitlyn Ondrick both had two goals and an assist, while Lily Hayes had three assists and goalie Felix Goeckel registered 16 saves.

* Goals by Annie Flippo, Catherine Bannister and Parker Kathan all scored to lead a Medfield comeback to a 3-2 win over Walpole.

Ella Spinazola

* Ella Spinazola had both of her team’s goals in Woburn’s 2-1 win over Acton-Boxboro.

* Gloucester had a huge win in the NHL, edging Winthrop, 2-1. Ella Costa notched the game-winning tally for the Fishermen. Jenna Connelly also had a goal.

Anna Leverone Lincoln-Sudbury

* Annie Leverone scored twice, and Sophia Romm, Ally Quinn and Harper Friedholm added goals in Lincoln-Sudbury’s 5-1 win over Boston Latin.

* Belmont/Watertown skated to a 4-4 standoff with Wellesley. Evey Long, Lola Rocci and Elsie Lakin-Shultz all had a goal and and assist for Belmont/Watertown.
