Mass. Girls HS Hockey – Final Division 1 Top 10: Triple OT Win In State Final Puts St. Mary’s In #1 Spot

The MIAA Girls Division 1 state final was a microcosm of the parity amongst the top teams in Division 1 this winter.

A young St. Mary’s Lynn team emerged victorious in triple overtime to win the state title, and therefore finishes in the top spot in the final HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 1 Top 10.

#2 Notre Dame Academy, which came out on the short end of that triple overtime classic, had entered the post-season as the #1 seed.

#3 Malden Catholic had by far its best season in the short history of a varsity program, reaching the semifinal round.

After a pair of shutout wins to open the post-season, #4 Hingham fell short again Malden Catholic in the quarterfinals.

The big mover was Archbishop Williams. The Bishops made a great post-season run, advancing to the semifinals where they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to St. Mary’s. They finish up at #5.
